Blokium Tablet is a synthetic beta selective (cardio selective) adrenoreceptor blocking agent, without membrane stabilizing or intrinsic sympathomimetic (partial agonist) activities.

Composition
Blokium 25 MG tablet : Each tablet contains Alenolol B.P. 25mg
Blokium 50 MG tablet : Each tablet contains Alenolol B.P. 50mg
Tablet Blokium 100MG : Each tablet contains Alenolol B.P. 100mg
Blokium Indications
Hypertension
Blokium (Atenolol) indicated in the management of hypertension. It may used alone or concomitantly with other antihypertensive agents. Particularly with a thiazidetype diuretic
Angina Pectoris Due To Coronaly Atherosclerosis
Blokium (Atenolol) is indicated for the long term management of patients with angina pectoris.
Acute Myocardial Infarction
Blokium Tablet (Atenolol) is indicated in the management of hemodynamically stable patients with definite or suspected acute myocardial infraction to reduce cardiovascular mortality. Treatment can initiated as soon as the patients clinical conditions.
Blokium Tablet Dosage Administration
Hypertension
Firstly, The initial Blokium (Atenolol) dosage is Blokium 50 MG given as one tablet a day. If an optimal response is not achieved within one week, the dosage should increased to Blokium (Atenolol) 100MG given as one tablet a day. Some patient may require a dosage of 200 mg once a day for optimal effect. Twenty four hour control with once daily dosing achieved by giving doses larger than necessary to achieve and immediate maximum effect. The maximum early effect on exercise tolerance occurs with doses of Blokium 50 MG to Blokium 100MG. But at these doses the effect at 24 hours attenuated, averaging about 50% to 75% of that observed with once a day oral doses of 200mg.
Blokium Contraindications
Most importantly, Treatment with Blokium (Atenolol) as with other beta blockers contraindicated in patients with the following.
- Known hypersensitivity to the drug
- Heart block (Second or third degree)
- Bradycardia
- Cardiogenic shock
- Severe peripheral arterial circulatory disturbances and sick sinus syndrome.

Blokium During Pregnancy And Lactation
Although no evidence of teratogenecity has been found in animal studies. Meanwhile, Administration of Blokium (Atenolol) Tablet during pregnancy should avoided. Unless the benefits outweigh the possible risks. Furthermore, Blokium (Atenolol) crosses the placental barrier and appears in the cord blood. However, No studies performed on the use of Blokium (Atenolol) Tablet in the first trimester and the possibility of foetal injury cannot be excluded.
