Panadol CF Day Caplets Dosage & Administration

Dose For Adults And Children Over 12 years:

• One caplet every 4-6 hours and needed.

Children under 12 years:

Stop using Panadol CF And Get Immediate Medical Advice If You Notice The Symptoms:

• Sudden abdominal pain, blood in your stool or other symptoms of ischemic colitis develop.
• Sudden severe headache, nausea, vomiting and usual disturbances or any signs of posterior reversible encephalopathy (PRES)/ reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome (RCVS).

Immediately Visit Your Doctor Before Start Use of Panadol CF Tablets:

• Caution should be exercised in patients with cardiovascular disease, arrhythmias, hypertension, hyperthyroidism, prostatic enlargement, diabetes, glaucoma, pheochromocytoma, epilepsy, bronchitis, bronchiectasis and bronchial asthma.
• Use with caution in patients taking beta-blockers or other anti-hypertensives,
• Concurrent use with drug which cause sedation, such as anxiolytics and hypnotics as may cause an increase in sedative side effects.
• Caution should be exercised with glutathione depleted states such as sepsis or if you have severe infection as the use of paracetamol may increase the risk of metabolic acidosis. Signs of metabolic acidosis include:

• Loss of appetite

Panadol CF Cold And Flu Caplets Use With Other Medications

The anticoagulant effect of warfarin an other coumarins may be enhanced by prolonged regular daily use of paracetamol with increase risk of bleeding: occasional doses have no significant effect. On the other hand, concomitant administration of pseudoephedrine hydrochloride-containing product and Monoamine oxidase inhibitor - MAOIs (or within two weeks of stopping MAOIs) may lead to hypertension crisis. The anticholinergic effects of chlorphenamine are intensified by MAOIs.

Similarly, the concomitant use of this medication with sympathomimetic agents (such as decongestants, apatite suppressants and amphetamine-like psychostimulants) which interfere with the catabolism of sympathomimetic amines, may occasionally cause rise in blood pressure. Pseudoephedrine-containing product may antagonize the effect of certain classes of antihypertensive.

Consequently, concurrent use of chlorphenamine and hypnotics or anxiolytics may potentiate drowsiness. Concurrent use of alcohol may have similar effect. Chlorphenamine inhibits phenytoin metabolism and can lead to phenytoin toxicity.

Panadol CF Use In Pregnancy And Lactation

Do not use during Pregnancy and breast feeding unless considered essential by physician. Safe use of pseudoephedrine in Pregnancy has not been established despite widespread use over many years. Caution should be exercised by balancing the patients benefit of treatment to the mother against any possible hazards to the developing fetus.

Pseudoephedrine is excreted in breast milk in small amounts but the effect of this on breast fed infant in unknown. There are no adequate data from the use of chlorphenamine maleates in pregnant women. The potential risk for humans is unknown. Use during the thirds trimester may result in reaction in the newborn or premature neonates.

Chlorphenamine maleates and other antihistamine may inhibit lactation and may be secreted in breast milk.

Panadol CF Over Dose Symptoms & Treatment

Immediate medical management is required in the event of overdose even if symptoms of overdose are not present.

Paracetamol:

• Symptoms and signs-Paracetamol overdose may cause liver failure.
• Treatment-Immediate medical management is required in the event of overdose, even if symptoms of overdose are not present. Administration of N-acetylcysteine or methionine may be required.

Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride:

Symptoms and sign:-Pseudoephedrine overdose may result in symptoms due to central nervous system and cardiovascular stimulation e.g. excitement, restlessness, hallucinations, hypertension and arrhythmias. In severe cases psychosis, convulsion, coma and hypertension crisis may occur. Serum potassium levels may be low due to extracellular shift in potassium.

Treatment-Treatment should consist of standard supportive measures. Beta Blockers should revers the cardiovascular complication and the hypokalemia.

Chlorpheniramine:
