Spiromide Tablets 40 MG Tab basically used for the treatment of Edematous conditions. Especially those in which secondary hyperaldosteronism is involved edema and ascites of congestive heart failure and cirrhosis of the liver. On the other hand, it also indicated in the management of mild to moderate essential hypertension and the nephrotic syndrome.

Contraindications

Spiromide Tablets 40 MG use is contraindicated in the patients having the symptoms like.

• Acute renal insufficiency
• Significant deterioration of renal function
• Anuria
• Hyperkalemia
• In patients with a history of hypersensiticity to furose – mide or spironolactone.

 Warnings & Precautions

The administration of potassium supplements or other potassium sparing agents not recommended as they induce hyperkalaemia. Meanwhile, an adjustment in the dose of cardiac glycosides and anti hypertensive drugs may necessary when this medication added to the regimen. Sulfonamide derivatives including furose – mide have been reported to exacerbate or activate systemic lupus erythematosus. Periodic estimation of serum electrolytes desirable due to the possibility of hyperkaliemia, hyponatremia, hypochloremia alkalosis and possible transient BUN elevation. Especially in patients with preexisting impaired renal function, should hyperkaliemia develop. The renal clearance of lithium is reduced by this product which may result in added risk of lithium toxicity.
