Atorva Tablets (Atorvastatin Medicine) is a selective competitive inhibitor of HMG- CoA reductase. The rate-limiting enzyme is responsible for the conversion of 3-hydroxy-3-methyl-glutaryl-coenzyme A to mevalonic a pressures of sterols including cholesterol. This Medicine lowers plasma cholesterol and lipoprotein levels by inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase and cholesterol synthesis in the liver and by increasing the number of uptake and catabolism of LDL. Atorva Atorvastatin Medicine Uses

Atorva 10 MG & 20 MG Tablets Atorvastatin Medicine is used and indicated as an adjunct to diet for the reduction of elevated cholesterol
  • LDL-cholesterol
  • Apoli-poprotein B
  • Triglycerides
And to increase HDL- cholesterol in patients with primary, heterozygous familial. And non-familial hypercholesterolemia, and combined hyperlipidemia (Fredrickson types lla and llb). It generally indicated as an adjunct to diet for the treatment of patients with elevated serum triglyceride levels, (Fredrickson type IV), and for the treatment of patients with dysbetalipoproteinemia(free-drickson type III) who do not respond adequately to diet. Moreover it is also indicated for the reduction of total cholesterol and LDL- cholesterol in patient with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia when the response to diet and other non-pharmacological measures are inadequate.

The usual starting dosage 10 mg to 80 mg once a day. The dosage range  10 to 80 mg once daily. The dose may give at any time of the day with or without food. Dosage should individualize according to baseline LDL-levels, the goal of therapy, and patient response.

Generally this is a well tolerated medication for all ages. Adverse reactions have usually been mild and transient. The most frequent were constipation, flatulence, dyspepsia, abdominal pain, headache, nausea, myalgia, asthenia, diarrhea, and insomnia.

Antipyrine: Co administration of this medicine with an oral antacid suspension containing magnesium and aluminum hydroxides, decreased, atorvastatin, plasma, concentration approximately 35% however, LDL, the reduction not altered. Digoxin: When multiple doses of digoxin and 10 mg capsules co-administered, steady-state plasma digoxin concentration unaffected. However, digoxin concentration increased by approximately 20% following administration of digoxin with 80 mg medication daily. Azithromycin: Co administration of this medication (10 mg QD) and azithromycin (500 mg QD) did not alter the plasma concentration of it. Cimetidine: Its interaction studies with cimetidine conducted, and no clinically significant interaction studied. Other concomitant Therapy_  In clinical studies, this medicine used concomitantly with antihypertensive agents and estrogen replacement therapy without evidence of clinically significant adverse interaction.
Atorva (Atorvastatin) Medicine Overdosage Symptoms & Treatment
